Erosion Control

I recently explored a little hidden gem of coastline in Oregon. Bob’s Beach to be exact.

All along the north end of the area were these signs attached to fencing:

Erosion Control -

No Access Beyond this Point

This is so much of the work of human healing.

Finding where our inner landscape has been overstepped, overused, or abused, then to create strong boundaries with clear messaging.

Who can enter?

Do they find the land sacred?

Will they honor that it’s fragile in places?

Will they be patient for a time?

Will they be willing to wait and see the beauty from afar until the ground is stable enough to invite them in?

Will they be resentful they don’t have immediate access?

Will they honor the boundary even if they don’t fully understand?

When we’ve been hurt or betrayed, or if we’ve betrayed ourselves, we need a bit of time. We need a few seasons of new growth to come and go before we feel safe enough having others come past a certain point.

May we all be cautious and respectful of the reclamation areas in our lives and the lives of others.
